Touch-and-go test

One light touch on the shoulder — do they lean in, cling, or bolt? That answer picks the guide.

Reach for this when

you are about to hand over a snack or screen because you cannot read the mood.

What you need

  • Nothing

How to route

  1. Stand beside them (not over). One gentle touch on the shoulder or back — no words yet.
  2. Lean in or climb you → with you. Open process art station and sit beside them.
  3. Cling and whine but won’t let go → clingy. Open indoor pouring station (or sensory bin if water is already a fight tonight).
  4. Bolt away laughing or climb the sofa → wound up. Open indoor obstacle course and deploy the bin beside the couch.
  5. Do the first play listed in that guide — not a Pinterest detour.

If it flops

They swat your hand away? Give space thirty seconds, then try the two-choice door play. Do not force proximity.
